GARMIN GPSMAP 496. One of GARMINS finest. It is in full working order and I know of no flaws or faults. The kit looks almost new. An extremely good example of this sought after model.
I choose it over the 696 because of the ability to enter non aviation points as waypoints and I'm talking of the smallest places on a UK map. That's because it has a road based database as well as the aviation one and if you want to fly from Little Piddle in the Woods to Sway Village you are able to plan the route. Perfect for finding that elusive landing place in the middle of nowhere. It also has serious top end capabilities if you want to fly an aviation based route.
This is a near immaculate GPS with various cables and mounting brackets. The manual is lost but is easily downloaded from the GARMIN Website. The Quick Reference Guide is included along with 4 discs of navigation software.
The unit software has been updated to the latest 4.70. The maps are out of date but, like your paper based maps, will cost about £30 to update from GARMIN. I am looking for £450 ONO +P&P and guarantee your money back if the unit is not as I describe it. I have the images stored in a higher resolution for anyone who may wish to see better pictures.
