The Baird of Bute Society invite you to join their third annual 'Baird of Bute Celebration' taking place on Saturday, September 22nd. 2012
http://www.bairdofbute.com/

The Strip was dedicated two years ago to the memory of Andrew Baird – a son of Bute - who achieved ”The First All-Scottish heavier-than-air powered flight” in September 1910 on the sands of Bute’s Ettrick Bay. In his memory, there is to be an annual celebration at the airfield and at Ettrick Bay. You are invited to attend this festival whether you come by road or air. There will be live music, presentations and BBQ.

1. If you are considering coming by air please take note of the limitations of the strip.

Grass strip 480m 09/27
Safety Com. 135.475

2. All visiting aircraft are requested to be on the airfield by 10.45am.
3. If you wish to take part in a flyby at Ettrick Bay, there is to be a parade of aircraft on the strip to form a safe departure sequence.
4. 11.20am the general public, who up until this point will have been viewing proceedings from the adjacent field, will be allowed onto the airfield to view the aircraft and attend the various presentations and speeches.
5. 1.00pm All visitors exit the airstrip.
6. There will be a slot from 1.15pm to 1.35pm for any late arrivals.
7. 1.40pm Pilots taking part prepare for flypast over Ettrick Bay (First aircraft to be there at 2.00pm should take off at 1.52pm). The spacing will be adequate to avoid overtaking.
8. The duration of the flypast will depend on the number of participating aircraft on the day. Pilots may decide to return to their home base or leave the area for a trip elsewhere. Those intending to return to the Baird Airstrip should continue clockwise round the island and rejoin the circuit keeping a good lookout.
10. There is a planned aerobatic display by two aircraft at Ettrick Bay commencing at 3.00pm
